About me

Sun Wireless Toolkits (WTK)

Sun provides two WTKs, one for MIDP 1.0 development and one for MIDP 2.0 development. These toolkits include both the MIDP SDKs and corresponding emulators. I have focused on WTK 1.0.4 because it is the only toolkit compatible with the Rococo simulator. I have been in contact with Rococosoft asking them how to get WTK 2.0 working with their simulator. After all, the smartphones including JABWT come with support for MIDP 2.0. Rococosoft informed me that support for WTK 2.0 was not available, but they were working to resolve the issue.

WTK 1.0.4 works fine with the Rococo simulator. It does however have some minor bugs in the emulation of MIDlets. Setting the selected element in a list is one of the things that do not work as expected (works fine when run on a cell phone). Since WTK 1.0.4 is the only alternative when developing with the Rococo simulator, I'll stick with it until something better shows up.

WTK 2 should give you what you need for developing MIDP 2.0 MIDlets without JABWT.
